England have dropped plans to bid to host the final stages of Euro 2020.
But the FA is confident Wembley will get the green light from UEFA as the venue for group games.
Englandhad been ready to campaign to host the semi-finals and final of the tournament that will be based in 13 cities across the continent. But Istanbul’s failure to land the 2020 Olympics means the Turkish city, backed by UEFA chief Michel Platini, is now set to get a free run at staging the final three games.
FA chairman Greg Dyke said: “We would expect Wembley to host a number of games, possibly England’s group games.”
