Gareth Bale has tweeted the new updated cover of Fifa 14, in which the world’s most expensive player is wearing a Real Madrid shirt.

The Welsh star appears alongside Barcelona legend Lionel Messi, Gareth Bale initially appeared on the cover wearing a Tottenham shirt.

But it looks like the shirt isn’t the only thing that’s changed, Gareth Bale has a new pose, and the Fifa 14 developers look like they’ve gone as far as him a darker skin tone, which we can only guess is the suntan he’s picked up in Madrid over the few days he’s been there so far.

Gareth Bale tweeted the , and said "New club… new cover!"

It means Spurs fans’ joy at seeing their team on the front of one of the world’s biggest game franchises was short lived, and that La Liga now has the monopoly when it comes to the clubs on this year’s front cover.

Behind the scenes video with Gareth Bale at Fifa 14 HQ:

Gareth Bale joins the likes of Dennis Bergkamp, David Beckham, Ronaldinho, Thierry Henry and Del-Piero, who have all been featured on the front cover of in previous years.

"To be on the front cover of the game is obviously massive," said Bale.

"I think when you look at other people who have been on there, the players that have been on the front cover since I’ve been a kid have been legends of the game.

"It’s kind of a dream come true and it’s great to be involved."

He is the second Welshman to appear on the front cover of the game, following in the footsteps of Ryan Giggs, who was on the cover with Edgar Davids and Roberto Carlos in 2003.
